The Good Demon starts in the aftermath of an exorcism. Unlike most stories that involve demonic possession & the removal thereof, this time our main character Clare misses her demon. Her best friend is gone now, and Clare finds herself desperate to get her back. Little does she know that her small town hides more secrets than she knows about, and her quest to get her demon back will only expose her to the darker more twisted things that hide behind closed doors, and bring them all to the light.

. In these episodes, the old fencing captain returns, Shiori continues being unworthy of Juri's affection, Nanami lays an egg, and Akio is creepier than ever.
. In these episodes, the old fencing captain returns, Shiori continues being unworthy of Juri's affection, Nanami lays an egg, and Akio is creepier than ever. We begin by introducing Tia's latest theory that Akio is Venus and Anthy is the Earth. This is supported by Akio directly comparing himself to Venus/Lucifer and Anthy's connection to nature. We examine Kozue and Micki's very different world views. Kozue believes you have to be as impure as the world that surrounds you while Miki sees this as a reason to hold onto purity at any cost. We question whether Akio is truly Utena's prince as is claimed, but we accept that he is likely the one behind the end of the world. We also take note of the fact that Akio is romantically linked to almost every single character. We also discuss the possibility that Chu-Chu died and was reincarnated as Nanami's egg. We take note of the fact that without comprehensive sex ed it is an unfortunate reality that kids will believe they can lay eggs.

Gonna be completely honest, I picked this one up thinking it was going to be a historical drama of the likes of Westward the Women, got two pages in and realized it was a Gothic Romance. Surprising, but not a disappointment! The Matrimonial Advertisement is a fun, cute historical romance that isn't the most complex thing you're ever going to read, but which combines a romance plot with a look at how women were at risk due to their lack of individual status legally.
